丛树康和方子昭是大陆的一对情侣，他们为谋发展一起偷渡去香港。但是树康为了自己，牺牲子昭，任凭她被恶棍蛇头侵犯，被遣送回大陆。在香港，树康从经纪行杂役做起，为夺取股票大王萧进的股票市场，和萧进情妇蒋玉楼发生关系，还娶了行政局首富议员的女儿高彩元为妻，顺利当上立法局议员；而子昭被遣回大陆后，怀孕了，她难辨孩子的父亲是树康还是歹徒，于是堕胎。之后子昭巧遇一位美籍记者袁华生。袁同情她，以结婚名义将她带到台湾。袁后来因癌症去世．袁父袁伯滔是台湾首富，经袁伯滔栽培，子昭成为商界女强人。子昭猛力砸钱切断树康的生意路，却又在某些业务上好似和他合作著些业务……这场恩怨情仇又会如何落幕？本剧由香港名作家梁凤仪的两部名著《醉红尘》及《今晨无泪》合并改编而成。拍摄主要由台湾方面负责，在内地的一些场景由上海电视台配合有关工种协助完成，拍摄经费全部由台湾方面负担。。One day, thinking that it will make your wife and friends smile, you shave off the moustache that you have had for the last ten years.
